"Suicide is the most common form of death among new mothers - 40 women each year die as a result of it during the first year after they have given birth."
I'm so shocked at that! That poor womans family so sad
it is soo sad, i read on another forum todat that there is someting more extreme called purple phycosis?...probably spelt it wrong but it is a very extreme form of pnd.
its really names puerperal psychosis, but is often referred to as purple becuase of how you ssay it. It's like PND yeah, but it affects between one and two new mothers in every 1,000 so pretty rare lol
its easier to tell and most people are able to pick up signs of pueperal (purple) cos of the way people act around their baby etc, for people with PND it's easier to caarry on and pretend everythings ok, people with this cant fdo that.
some people hallucinate and see objects or people who aren’t there, or it cud be bright colours and patterns swirl in front of them but nothings really there if u get me.
With Pnd it can be sorted through the doctor etc or getting meds, with purple you have to go to hospital to get it sorted
theres not much research on this really, suprising people know about it
yes sorry i thought as i posted it that was not the correct name, i read that this mother maybe had this morer extreme form but I do not know anything about it myself. I had pnd with my middle child, and would not wish it on anyone, even though it was mild compared to others.
purples right, its the name given to it, much easier to spell lol
it's on a sliding scale, like autism is, it has a minor form, which is 'baby blues' then PND in the middle and then 'purple' is the rarest form, it can lead to schizophrenia etc and allsorts of bad thing. I'm hoping your friend is ok x
