Educate American time... I don't know the term tandem feeding?? Does it mean breastfeeding from the nipple and also with bottled breast milk? If so, I did that with Aaralyn, I froze breast milk so that when her dad had her he could feed her, plus I had an abundance at the beginning till she latched on after about 2ish weeks.

and if I was way off there, can ya tell me what tandem feeding is then? LOL Embarassed

Tammy I'm not sure what it means either lol.

I think you have got it right, I would have thought that is what sammie means. I half bf with breastmilk in a bottle and half formular fed. I could only keep it up for about 3 weeks though before going totally to formula. It couldn't use pumps so had to hand express - which means both hands full and george screamed constantly for about the first 3 months of his life and charlotte wanted something and right now, so I found it easier in the end to make up bottles of formula have them sat in fridge Embarassed I didn't have the time to stock pile any breast milk in the freezer unfortunately, otherwise I would have done and maybe been able to keep going longer.

Well ya done good by them either way! Smile I was lucky to have been able to go as long as I did (till she was 8 months) but then she just decided she did not want to go for it anymore Sad , I was going to try to go for the first 12 months, with other food as well of course but didn't work out that way. I will say this, it didn't seem to help keep from getting her sick Sad the way people say it should, but I did enjoy the experience... ok sorry, rambling a lil there Embarassed

Aw thanks hun. I must admit George still ended up with eczema and got cold after cold to begin with and I've had no end of problems with HV's telling me he's underweight, but i know it is just the way he's made. He eats more than Charlotte lol.

Hayley_Kev Hayley_Kev said 6 months 2 weeks ago
isnt it feeding 2 either 2gether or one after the other?

Sammie Sammie said 6 months 2 weeks ago
yup, and it's getting on my tits! no pun intended ! i dont know whatr to do

Hayley_Kev Hayley_Kev said 6 months 2 weeks ago
wot seems to be the prob hun? do u feed together? or one after the other?

Sammie Sammie said 6 months 2 weeks ago
one after the other, not directly, but never at the same time, i think we've done that maybe twice, three times??? but yeah, usually at different times, im just so sore its unreal

Hayley_Kev Hayley_Kev said 6 months 2 weeks ago
do u feed on the same boob or feed baby1 on one boob, then baby2 on t'other?

Sammie Sammie said 6 months 2 weeks ago
usually, i was doing Izzie on the left and Kabe on the right, i have a weak right shoulder so Izzie is always on the left, but my right side has become really, and i mean REALLY painful so i have just been doing it as i could really, it's not like they shared germs etc, i spoke to my HV about it and she said both on the same would be ok, so long as i wasnt getting too full on one side and emptying myself on the other etc

Hayley_Kev Hayley_Kev said 6 months 2 weeks ago
sounds like the same problem i had hun

babies are more comforted by the left as they hear ur heartbeat and it reminds them of beeing back in the womb and soothes them.whereas on the right they hear nothing.with ethan my right nipple was such a mess, even bled - when it was time feed him on the right i would have to squeeze kevs have and cover my mouth from screeming lol! it took about 3wks for heel.i just used to rub my milk round it (i did buy that nipple cream in the purple tube but it was useless!)

maybe take it in turns on feeding the babs on the sides, say 1st feed have izzie on left kabe on right,2nd feed have kabe on left izzie on right - alternating them like that - see how that goes for a bit.

there were times when i used to hesitate to feed ethan, hed be starving screeming and id be crying saying i couldnt do it!! but i carryed on and it all came together - he was just so greedy i had to mix bf with formula feeds!! have u thort about doing that? u bf one, hubby ff the other? then next feed change?

we've been advised to keep Kabey on Bmilk only until he is at least 5 months, and with Izzie, she wont drink it, im not too fussed as we're trying to get her on normal foods soon anyway, but i want to be able to bfeed them, i have been expressing and Brandon feeds one whilst i do the other etc, or Josh does it if its during school time etc. I just dont know what to do, i want whats best for them in the long run, but not sure how much more i can take!

Hayley_Kev Hayley_Kev said 6 months 2 weeks ago
how old is izzy now hun?

i know what u mean hun - there were times when i would cry and want to give up and kev kept saying that it was makin me bad so stop, but i wanted the best for ethan so kept at it!! i got it in the end tho - took some doing but it was perfect once he learned to latch properly and i learned what to do.

people thinks its a natural thing, but its something u both have to learn isnt it - it is hard and im sure im not the only one who will admit it!

Hayley_Kev Hayley_Kev said 6 months 2 weeks ago
yeh so i imagine she will be off the boobie soon wont she,but well done you for going this long! Thumbs Up
it will prob be much better for you once izzie is off - but dont feel u have to rush her off - do it when ur both ready
