aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!! head lice

if anyboday has any suggestion, PLEASE send them my way!!!!! Isabelle came home with a few nits last week. ( I check them all the time due to past infestations) I combed them out of her hair, cleaned EVERYTHING, called the school nurse and asked her to check the classes heads. I take preventative measures daily, by making sure their hair is up and I spray rosemary oil mixed with detangler through out the hair. the nurse checked and said everyone was fine. however, when isabelle came home from school she said the girl that sits next to her was abscent. i was thinking 1. good, her parents found it and kept her home to treat it 2. should i call the school and make sure they look at her???? i've been inspecting all of our head ever since (never fails, i itch like crazy at the thought of them) there have been no live lice to be found. all clear over the weekend. tuesday am, i found 4 more nits in her hair!!! i went into the school this time and spoke with the nurse, asked her to check again and pointed out the little girl sitting nect to isabelle was out that day. see said " oh yea so & so, that would surprise me" why would that surprise her???!!! anybody can get them. i dont know what else to do, i'm going to loose my mind over this! i check their them daily, they stuff their coats, hats etc. in their backpacks so they arent touching anyone elses, they never go to school with hair down. what else can i do????

i remember as a kid there were rumours that only the dirty people got them... or people who washed there hair too much got them... i NEVER had head lice so what does that make me!! too dirty - too clean - hahaha!!

i remember having my neice one day a few years back n my sis asked me to check her hair as they were going round the skool,so i was sittin on the bed with jess infront of me combing thru her hair when the biggest mother f r ran across her parting!!! i myself and refused to touch her head!!

god help me when my own kids get em... it freaked me out!! lol!

Horrid little bugs, cant stand them, I never had them as a kid, but when I was 18 I was working with someone who unknown to me had them..........a couple of weeks passed and I kept getting my mum to check my head she said there wasnt any, I was still scratching!! weeks later I went mad really scratching my head, a massive one got stuck under my nail........I cryed all the way to the doctors, I saw the nurse straight away, she took alook and said that they were very mature!!.........this really got to me, I went to the hair dressers had my hair cut short used lyclear(brilliant stuff) never had them since........thank god.
My daughter, (almost 5) came home from school in february with lice, I always have her hair tied back to her head, I informed the school.(I check her hair twice a week as I have a massive phobia of them), she seems to have had them forever since then.........I do the 3day cycle with conditioner and combing, used the potions a couple of times, but she just keeps getting them, I took her to the doctors again, and they prescibed more potion, and a nitty gritty comb 100 X better than a normal nit comb!! (I threatened to leave her there until she was bug free!!!) doctor also said that some kids are more likely to get them due to how close they play with friends, and has they get older, there not playing as closely so 'grow out of getting them!!'

Try the nitty gritty comb, 9.99 or ask doc to prescribe it........hope you get rid, we have finally.........lol (sorry for rambling on)

hey hun. firstly dont bother with potions they dont work. the lice just become immune to them. as sammymumof2 suggested go to yr dr and get the nitty gritty comb on prescription. it is brill
i found the best way to combat these buggers is to wash the hair using a tea tree shampoo (apparantly lice hate the stuff) then smother the hair in conditioner. the wetter the hair the better as this makes the lice lethargic. then comb through with a comb and get rid of any lice and eggs. when thats done rinse the conditioner out then go through the hair again. you can do this using the 3-day method but i found if you end up missing one, the cycle starts again and yr there forever. i did it on my dd's hair everyday till i knew they were gone. it is a long process but it does work. we now use tea tree shampoo as its a repellant

Yes Tea tree Conditioner! Charlotte got them from nursery a week or so back. I combed her hair through using a nit comb but she only had one and one patch of eggs fortunately so it didn't take long. I got some Debac M liquid (apparently this stuff kills crabs and scabies too ). This was left in overnight and then I just washed her hair as normal.

I've started putting the conditioner on her head and leave it on for 5 mins and then rinse it off. It make combing easier later. As she has just recently gone back after the hols I had forgotten to put some on which is why I think she got them.

Good luck hun, but I think we are fighting a losing battle lol!

and just to make you all feel better apparantly October is the worst month for headlice

An alternative to tea tree shampoo but unfortunately a more smelly option is white vinegar massaged onto the hair and up to but not directly onto the scalp.

Leave to soak in, and then follow with conditioner massaged directly into the scalp and combed through with a nit comb in small hair sections at at time.

Finally rinse and follow the same process for several days.

I hope you manage to to get rid of them quickly, all in all they are a very unpleasant experience for both children and their parents.
