My IVF Diary......Updated.

Well we got on the rollercoaster on the 26th of December 2006, it stll hasnt stopped!
i started injecting 0.5mls of Buserelin into my tum at 8 pm, this is called down regulating.
The side effects are not too bad, i have had, upto now...hot flushes and mood swings (quite bad) poor dp!
anyway we have to d/r until the 17th of January (i have been for a scan between then) which is when i start on another drug (injected into the large muscle on the top of my leg) called Merional, i am put on a high dose as i am 35 and have "harder to stimulate ovaries" so here we are two lots of jabs to put up with, to be honest i find the ones in my leg more painful as they have to be jabbed right in.

Wednesday 24th Jan 2007.
Been for a scan today to check on the size of my follicles and i am getting a reduction in the dose cos i have quite alot of follicles apparently and they are worried if it may be the start of overstimulation, folly count is 10 on the left and 21 on the right! my womb lining is 13mm which they said is a little bit thick but hey-ho!they want to see me on Friday to see if things have calmed down. Oh and my "harder to stimulate" ovaries are something they expect to see in a woman in her 20's so thats one in the eye hey!

Friday 26th Jan...been for another scan and they are ready to go for monday! my follicles have carried on and i now have a staggering 41 in total most of these measuring 15-17mm but i also have quite a few at 19mm...(ready size) saw professor Killick and he said that we are sailing really close to the wind with this now and isnt willing to give me anymore stimulating drugs over the weekend, so this will be good to have one less jab! i thought my lovelly follies had grown as my jeans are bursting at the seams! We are booked in for e/c..(egg collection) on monday morning at 8:45 am. I am really nervous, i am going under for it though so atleast i wont feel any discomfort! well until after anyway, will update on monday afternoon as soon as i am feeling ok.

Monday 29th Jan...
got back from ny egg retrieval this afternoon and i am feeling a bit tired but pleased, we got 20 eggs! i had sedation but i felt everything, i dont think they gave me enough and kept asking for more! lol. they left the smaller folicles to go on there own as they were a bit concerned about ohss, its where the drained follicles re-inflate and it can make you quite ill, even hospitalise you,well im glad its all over! just gotta see how many fertilise and go back on wednesday to have egg transfer, off to lay back down now and drink some water.

Well done you, hope you start to feel better soon, you must keep us updated! This is really fascinating for me as I don't know very much about IVF, thankyou for sharing with us

Tuesday 30th Jan....
well i didnt get much sleep last night, i was in a fair bit of pain, felt like really bad period pain! i am still tender this morning but glad the bloating has gone, i didnt realise it would be like this, it just seems really straight forward when you go through it in your head...take the drugs, collect the eggs then put the fertilised embryo's back, wait two weeks and thats it....NOT! there is so much more than to it than that, i have a great respect for those women that go through it time and time again, they say you just keep going without even thinking about it, you just think about the goal at the end, i am wondering what went on with my eggs after we left yesterday, how many fertilised...how many went on to cleave..(seperate) how many, if any at all we have good enough to freeze, i dont suppose i will get any sleep tonight either thinking about tomorrows transfer...oh god i hope it works!

Wednesday 31st Jan...
well i have two grade 3-4, embies on board, one is a 4 cell and one is a 5 cell, they are graded from 1-worse...5-top class, so i was really pleased with that, i have to keep off my feet for all of today and take it very easy for the first week, ie, no lifting or hoovering and things like that..(not a problem i said! lol) they should be expecting to implant when they get to Blastocyst, which is around day 6-7, we are at day 2 at the minute so i am carrying very precious cargo, i am keeping my legs crossed for tonight as i keep thinking they are going to fall out! they said they will definately NOT fall out..lol, im off to rest now and get an early night..bye peeps!

Fingers crossed for you. I bet its sooo hard not to get excited.

One 4 cell and one 5 cell, that's great news!! You will have to find something to do to make the next two weeks fly by. Enjoy putting your feet up and take it easy. Fingers crossed for you!!

Thursday 1st Feb....
Well things are going ok today, my mum has nipped round to do some hoovering for me...bless her! i have been tired today though, it must be the Utrogestan...(Progesterone capsules) this is what ladies use when they have had ivf or suffered multiple miscarriages, its used to sustain a pregnancy until the embryo implants and finds its own blood supply, these have to be inserted at bedtime,so i reckon they could be making me tired, i am still keeping my feet up and will do til tomorrow i think then i will just take things easy, no lifting or rushing around or anything, i need to get back to some kind of normality as this waiting game is starting to bore me!...until tomorrow...Rachx

Friday 2nd Feb....
Feeling much better today, had a bit of bloating last night so went to bed early, got up, got showered and i have got dressed today! well jog bottoms and t-shirt but i am feeling much better and perkier! my mum has been around again this morning running errands for me and putting washing in for me, where would we be without mums eh? i have been taking it easy and doing as i am told! Glenn has been on the phone every half hour checking im not cleaning windows or something silly like that...well im going to grab a sandwich as i am starving.Rachx

Saturday 3rd Feb+Sunday 4th Feb....
Well i thought i would roll the weekend post into one as there isnt much going on, well by now the drugs should be nearly out of my system(except for the utrogestan) so i can start looking for some symptoms,my tum isnt sore anymore, my (.)(.) are still sore though so that must be a good sign, another thing i have just noticed is that before when i was down regulating i had a funny feeling in my stomach like an itchy/fluttering feeling and i couldnt sleep very well, well thats back and also i feel like i have to keep stretching, like i have to stretch my stomach, its really weird! i will have to look that up see if anyone else has had that, anyway enough with the rambling, my little embies are at 7 days today (from e/c) and should be snuggling in their new home..(fingers tightly crossed) i have been looking at a few sites about the different stages the embryo goes through and whats going on in there, i wish there was a window so i could see all this waiting and not knowing is really frustrating!

Thursday 8th Feb...
i know i havent posted for a few days but there isnt much to tell you, everything is pretty much the same, i dont know if thats a good thing or a bad. im not feeling too chirpy either, i just feel a bit down and negative, i know i should be giving myself positive vibes but its so hard i think things are coming to an end now and im getting really, really nervous about the outcome, its been a long time and i just think i am mentally exhausted now, sorry about the depressing post but this is how i am feeling today.
