Introductions

thought we could use this as an intro to single parents (maybe sugar or rich will make it a sticky for us)


Hello everyone.


Im Alex and single mum to Joseph who is 3 and 1/2. I live in the North East of Scotland. I became a single parent when I left my controlling ex at 13weeks pregnant. I had some time out of work to begin with and then returned part time for 2 years before I decided to tackle my PGDE (primary teaching) last August. I have just finished it. so am now an NQT and cant wait til August when I get my own class- primary1

Being on my own has been hard work and couldn't have done anything without my mum and dad. I have no contact with my ex and that is the way I like it.

So whats your story?

Hey, I'm Tammy (almost 38 ), single (but with BF) mom to 4 year old Aaralyn. Her father broke up with me (after only 2 months together) the day I found out I was pregnant. It was definately for the better as I look at him now and see a totally different person than I thought he was (good guy, but just not who he made himself out to be at first) We have a decent relationship for the sake of Aaralyn. We pretty much agree on how we'd like to raise her (so far ).

I have had 2 relationships since I had Aaralyn (one didn't work out but we remain great friends, so I guess it did work out ) the second, I am still in and so far, really good.

Aaralyn's dad is in a relationship with a girl who seems pretty cool and Aaralyn likes her and she treats Aaralyn well so that's what is important. I hope things work out for them and maybe they can give Aaralyn a brother or sister, as I don't think I'll be having any more (atleast not in the relationship I am in now) and I think that's ok with me

Sorry, I always end up with really long posts. I need to take up writing again, I think.

Well I will 2nd the hard work that comes into it. I am also a single mom to Alex who is 3 years old and he is my world. Myself and hubby split when our little one was 8 months old but he had been seeing someone else when Alex was 4 weeks old. It really made me ill and I can't explain what I went thru. We did get back together i was willing to sort it all out but she would not leave him alone she would phone up when we was together and keep on pestering and he would say leave me alone blah blah. They then ended up back in touch with each other so I called it a day and threw him out. It was the hardest decision but I could not live my life like that. We are ok now and get on better and I still care. He's got another little one now but not completely happy but the sayin is the grass isn't always greener.
I am here for anyone who needs advice or support.

Hi Niki, welcome to the site I'm glad you found the strength to leave a bad situation, I hope it all works out and if Alfie's father deserves to have him in his life that I hope that works out too. I love the name Alfie by the way, it's so cute!

I'm Steve, father to 2 lovely toddlers (a boy of 3y 4m and a girl of 2y 5m) but seperated from my wife for 7 months now. Whilst they live with her they do spend quite a lot of time with me (most evenings, Saturdays overnight and Sunday mornings). I have joined this forum as I feel my parenting skills could do with improving and whilst I feel I do have a good relationship with their Mum we don't always see eye to eye on their upbringing.

Hey, well I broke up with Caitlins dad when she was 6 months, he didn't help much and hadn't found a job, he didn't find one til she was 18 months!!While I was at college and my girl in the nursery at college he stayed at home and did nothing. I lived with my parents back then and this annoyed them and I got fed up I was acting sorta like a single mum so I finished it. He doesn't see her much as I live near Portsmouth and he is up in the Midlands, he's lost his job recently too .

I've got a great bf who I've been with nearly 11 months. He is great with my girl, shes starting to call him dad what I am vary about because I always say Liam to her, but its not her fault. Sorry this was kinda long!

Kelly_Cait, I'm glad you found a good guy and if her daddy doesn't want to make time for her and step it up a bit, and if you're serious with this other guy and he treats her right then maybe he's the one that deserves to be called Daddy

i had her when i was 15. her dad left me when we got the news.

now she 3 im going to back to college (tried when she was 1 but i missed her to much)but she be in the nurrey on campus this time.

Hi! I'm Joanna and pg with twins, father isnt really takin an interest in our babies, coz we werent really goin out, more just sleeping 2geva and this one time the condom broke and I found I was pg. Thing is, I am, well I spose was, one of "them girls" the 13/14/15 yr olds who drink/smoke/sleep around and stuff, well yeah, a slag tbh. but now I'm changin 4 the betta as I gonna b a mummy 2 double trouble in 5 days!!! I must confess have smoked all way thru this pgcy but thats coz I not really strong enuf 2 give up, but I ahve cut down and will ocntinue 2 do so
anyways, thats my story really =)xxx

hello! I just joined a few minutes ago so i thought i would introduce myself.
I'm Lyssa, I'll be 20 years old on the 28th (Don't judge the fact that I'm young.. I may be young but I'm smart about a lot of things and I'm mature. It also helps that my mother is a NICU nurse so I get lots of help and advice from her

I got pregnant when I had just turned 18 a few months before and stayed with the dad until my daughter (Grace Arabelle) was about 4 months old. I don't blame him (although I would like to) I love being a mother, and I love my daughter, but he just couldn't/wouldn't grow up and take responsibility. He still visits with her once a week though.

I'm also going to school full time, taking a child/youth care program. I graduate next November and I plan on working in two main areas, with abused children (boys aged 4-12) and with pregnant teenagers and teenaged parents.

So thats me pretty much, sorry it was so long! I hope to be talking to you all soon.
